IS CHEVRON-TEXACO NEXT?

AIG's big-name board , which includes former Defense Secretary William Cohen, Harvard economist Martin Feldstein, and Democratic-Secretary-of-State-in-waiting Richard Holbrooke, hasn't exactly covered itself in glory in recent months.

Then there's Carla Hills, the former U.S. Trade Representative under Bush I. Ms. Hills has just had a profoundly bad run of luck on boards. Aside from AIG, her current assignments include Time Warner (director since 1993, blew up in 2001) and Lucent (director since 1996, blew up in 2000). And now AIG.

That leaves just Chevron-Texaco (director since 1993, yet to blow up).
